Misioneras De Cristo Jesús

My Missionary experience in Chad

My Missionary experience in Chad is the story of our missionary sister Florencia BIAMA which we want to share with all of you on this May 25 INTERNATIONAL AFRICA DAY

Dear sisters in Christ Jesus! br It is a joy for me to share with you this beautiful experience of Missionary life. But first of all I thank God for his call in Religious life, especially in our congregation as Missionaries of Christ Jesus. Once again I thank God for the experiences I have with Him through daily life in the community, my daily prayers and the Mission. Through these three dimensions that help me more and more to deepen my relationship with Him, with myself and with others. br I arrived in Chad on March 23, 2022 and spent three months in the N'Djamena community before joining my destination community in Ba-illi. And really, the heat was in place (there are times of strong heat in the country, it can reach up to 50º) it is a difficulty that I had to face, but I have never seen it as an obstacle to live my first mission after the novitiate with joy. . And that I understood well that what is difficult is not impossible.

What did I do during these months in N'Djamena?

  • Twice a week I went to CEDIRAA (Diocesan Center for the Recovery of Alcoholics) to teach them a trade that would help them live well, and there I understood the consequences of excessive alcohol consumption.
  • Once a week he went to the jail to visit the prisoners and participate with them in the Eucharist. br For me the apostolate in these places gave me great joy to also discover the face of Christ suffering in these people who need our special attention. By sending myself there, I understood that my presence relieved many people in this environment; it was for me and for them a source of joy and peace. br After 3 months I went to join my Ba-illi community where I was really destined, but I arrived during the rainy season and holidays; during the rainy season activities are very limited, all the people take the opportunity to do the fields and that means suspending everything else (pastoral activity, school...)

San Francisco Javier Abéché Nursery School

Due to the lack of activities, I dedicated myself to visiting the sick and praying with them, and this helped me a lot to get to know the culture of the area. And after 3 months I received another assignment for a new community that I am now a member of; My main activity is teaching at the San Francisco Javier de Abéché Nursery School. br At first the task was not easy, but little by little I began to feel great joy in accompanying the children and today I feel great satisfaction in being able to collaborate in teaching the little ones. In addition to this kindergarten activity, I collaborate as second person in charge of coordinating young people. And it is that I am realizing that young people need to be listened to and have points of reference to guide their lives. When I review the places that I have visited after my novitiate, I realize that I am understanding what our constitutions say, especially in the first chapter. br Here part of what I have been experiencing since I finished my novitiate, soon I will continue sharing more.

Thank you sister for sharing your missionary experience with all of us, we are looking forward to knowing more details.

You can see more activities, events and experiences in our BOLETIN de abril-mayo.
