82 Years of History, Faith and Mission
Misioneras de Cristo Jesús
oday, March 14, we celebrate with gratitude and joy the 82nd anniversary of the foundation of the Missionaries of Christ Jesus. A meaningful moment that invites us to pause, to look deeply at the journey we have walked, and to recognize God’s faithful presence guiding every step from the beginning until today.
Everything began in 1944, in Javier, when María Camino, our foundress, courageously listened to a profound call: to go forth, to go beyond, to open new paths for the proclamation of the Gospel. That first “yes,” simple yet firm, became the seed of a story that now reaches many parts of the world, embodied in concrete lives, diverse cultures, and realities often in need of hope.
Over these 82 years, the journey has been marked by a spirit of faith, availability, and generous self-giving. Generations of missionaries have lived their vocation wholeheartedly, becoming a living presence of Christ where the values of the Kingdom are most fragile or unknown. They have crossed borders, learned new languages, shared life with different peoples, and made their lives a sign of universal fraternity.
Looking back means recognizing a story woven together by many names, many lives offered, and countless quiet gestures that have transformed real situations. It reminds us that mission is sustained not only by great projects, but by daily faithfulness, closeness, listening, and the willingness to accompany others.
Today, we give thanks for this path of fidelity, for every woman who has generously responded to the call, for every community built, and for every life touched by this mission.
But this celebration is not only about remembering the past. It is also about the present and the future. The charism we have received remains alive, calling us to continue walking with boldness, creativity, and deep love for the world. In a rapidly changing reality, the mission remains clear: to be present, to care, to proclaim, and to open new paths for the Gospel with simplicity and closeness.
On this 82nd anniversary, we renew our desire to continue being a Church on mission, ready to go wherever we are needed, trusting that the One who began this work continues to guide it with faithful love.
Today, more than ever, we say: thank you for the journey lived, thank you for lives given, and thank you for the mission shared.
May we continue walking together with hope, joy, and trust that God is making all things new.
